Challenge

Rob and Lynn came to ClearMotive confused on what direction they should go with their autobody shop. They were battling between their passion of classic car restoration and collision repair. Rob had always dreamed of a white-glove restoration shop, and Lynn knew that offering collision repair would provide a much greater opportunity for financial growth. They had paid to be exhibitors at the World of Wheels Car Show for three years in a row, with only a couple projects to show for their investment. They knew the show marketing wasn’t working, but they didn’t know what would.

ClearMotive offered a solution that would position Dreamin Auto as a high-end classic car restoration first, and then offer collision repair for the classic car owner’s “other car” second. The positioning worked perfectly.

In marketing, we focus on the message that will drive the most likely new business, and then the operational strategy can fill in the holes, once the new business is aware of your product or service. In the case of Dreamin Auto, we focused the message of classic restoration, which positions them as a detail-oriented autobody shop that will “fix your baby”.

From this direction, a brand was created that could create cut-through and top-of-mind in their marketplace. The strategy defined all aspects of Dreamin Auto’s business from the website and marketing materials to the design and esthetic of the shop itself. Before working with ClearMotive, Dreamin Auto spent over $15,000 in 3 years at the World of Wheels tradeshow and generated only a couple business leads.

Results

ClearMotive advised that they redirect their tradeshow budget to developing an interactive website including professionally photographed customer project cars and testimonials from their raving fans. The results have been outstanding: Rob attracted 8 project cars within 6 weeks of the website going live.

Their website paid for itself twice within the first 6 weeks. Since then, Dreamin Auto has also claimed exclusive authorization for Jaguar collision repair in Western Canada. Dreamin Auto continues to collaborate with ClearMotive with all marketing initiatives.
